Differences between Organic Search and PPC
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising and Organic Search are the most opted for strategies for getting huge network traffic. Both these methodologies are good in their own way, and an entrepreneur should go for them only after being fully aware of their individual advantages and disadvantages.
One should make an estimate of one’s current financial condition and his or her plans in future and then decide upon the advertising methodology that is most appropriate for him.
The Pay-Per-Click method of advertising attracts traffic almost instantaneously. By using PPC one can expect to see the advertisement within minutes of launching the campaign. The next big benefit is that the PPC method gives you an idea of the keywords that draw huge network traffic and those that don’t and then concentrate on making advertisements with those keywords that attract massive network traffic. The PPC tool gives the advertiser ample opportunity to make a lot of money. It gives the entrepreneur an idea of the amount of money that he or she has to invest to make calculated profits.
The PPC strategy of online marketing has some drawbacks too. The PPC methodology works on the entrepreneur paying money to the visitors. In order to click on an advertisement the visitor needs to be paid money. This can run up to very high amounts and the visitors might stop visiting a site if they are not paid for that. A PPC scheme when optimized well will increase the number of conversions but one that is not optimized properly will not have a high conversion rate due to which the advertiser will have to face monetary losses. The entrepreneur can take the help of an experienced web marketing company to optimize their PPC so that the relevant advertisement can compete for the top ten positions.
In contrast to the PPC scheme, the entrepreneur does not have to pay the visitors who locate the website through an organic search. Organic searches generate greater clicks than PPC. Hence there is a greater chance of a website being listed in the top positions in the rankings of the organic search. For a top rank via the PPC scheme the entrepreneur has to pay a lot of money.
A ranking through organic search is based on the priority that a search engine gives to the URL. If the search engine is a well established one like Google or Yahoo those websites that are given top priority will automatically be visited by greater number of people, because the visitors have an inherent tendency of trusting the search engines with good reputation in prioritizing sites worth visiting. The PPC scheme does not command any trust, as they are not recommended by any reliable entity. The visitor just clicks on the advertisement and gets paid for it. Hence the conversion percentage seems to be greater in the case of organic searches than in the case of PPC visits.
Investing on organic search prioritization is a long-term goal, unlike PPC where the advertiser invests with a short-term goal. Getting returns is a slow process in the case of organic searches. The owner of the website has to carefully work in a steady manner to get his search engine prioritized. The results in the PPC scheme are short-termed though the effect is seen immediately. However, both methods can be used according to demands of the situation.
